Description
The LSI Helicopter UNI-PACis a lightweight Search & Rescue platform allowing stationary airdrop from helicopter, or (optional) static airdrop from fixed wing. The system includes:- Multi-person Life Raft (sizes available from 4 to 10 man capacities)
- Floating Retrieval Line
- Float Marker Buoy
- Soft Canister w/ handles
- Survival Kit (optional)
Features: - Expanding Canister: The Helicopter UNI-PAC incorporates two panels and a lacing system which allows the Canister to vary in size from 10 inches to 20 inches in diameter.
- Easy Storage: The UNI-PAC is a compact 10" in diameter that will store under most seats and storage compartments in small helicopters like the Jet Ranger (utilizing a standard 6-man raft).
- Float Marker & Retrieval Line: Each system incorporates a water activated inflatable Float Marker that is connected to the Life Raft via a 125 foot floating Retrieval Line.
- Delivery: Rescue often occurs during less than ideal circumstances. Rescue personnel and survivors frequently have to deal with high winds and rough seas. The UNI-PAC is designed to ensure positive delivery of the Life Raft to the survivor(s) under any conditions.
Operation: - Pilot makes an into-the-wind approach, slow pass over survivor(s) to avoid harmful downwash.
- SAR crewman readies the UNI-PAC and lowers the Float Marker and Retrieval Line to the survivor. Note: If multiple survivors are in the water the SAR crewman can deploy the Retrieval Line so that all survivors can get hold of the Retrieval Line before releasing the Life Raft.
- Pilot stands off to get survivor out from under the rotor downwash.
- When the crewman is certain the survivor(s) has positive control of the Retrieval Line, the Life Raft is dropped and automatically inflates as it contacts the water.
