The Heli-Rescue Bauman Bag was developed for helicopter rescue and is available in two models for Short Haul & Hoist extractions. Both bags can be used with backboards, litters, or by itself. The Bauman Bag provides a single-point suspension for lifting a patient during hoist or short-haul evacuations. The Hoist model has adjustable length straps allowing the bag to be configured to your aircraft. The fixed length straps on the Short Haul model position the bag at the best aerodynamic angle for flight stability. Designed to accept victims in bulky sports gear, high-risk occupational gear (fire fighters, Police in body armor or gear), or your average victim in civilian dress (hikers, skiers, etc.)
The Bauman Bag is:
- LIGHTWEIGHT (15 lb)
- COMPACT (stores in an 11" x 21" stuff sack)
- DURABLE: All materials used are industrial strength and of the highest quality available. Outer fabric is 1000 denier nylon cordura fabric and 1050 denier black ballistic cloth abrasion resistant fabric. Also, the bag is treated for water resistance.
LSI offers a
Custom Bauman Bag (Model BBRS) that features
superior construction and
added features not found in the standard Bauman bag:
- Capable of higher weight loading than the standard model
- Superior construction for advanced Wear and abrasion protection
Model BBRS Bauman Bag includes an internal suspension system that holds the victim horizontally beneath the helicopter. The suspension system is made up of eight straps, one to each handle with a metal ring, joined together on a large carabiner (sold separately). The foot area is very large with a zipper closure covered with a velcroed flap. The head / face opening has a drawstring closure. The bag is supported by a continuous 2" nylon cross strap and handle system which cradles the occupant. The head position adjustment is made by an adjustable 1" nylon web strap. Additional anti-skid is sewn to the bottom of the bag to prevent slippage on wet surfaces, rocks, snow, or ice.
The Bauman Bag has been continuously improved and updated since its introduction in the early 1980s.
